Return & Rehab -
drunkenmoth: He’d tensed immediately, only taking a shaking breath and nervous laugh when the other calmed. That was probably the worst hello he could have mustered. Almost as great as his goodbye letter.  Which didn’t exist. Shoot.  “Yeah.” A small smile and he’s taking a step forward. Still not close, but at least his back isn’t pressed against his bedroom door. “I used to be great at...

Return & Rehab -
drunkenmoth: A few minutes of flitting around his room, and the vague sounds of a TV finally reached him from behind the door. Was he still- of course he was. If not some squatter was about to have one very rude hello so late in the evening.  Byron cracked the door and peered out, some static-filled rerun of M.A.S.H. across the screen and cutting to commercial. Every last bone in his body told...

Return & Rehab -
drunkenmoth: Byron was, as many jokes to his nature said, flighty at best. He didn’t mean it. He tried. But this new world was… different.  Things that used to be known as bad and taboo were free-roaming things, liquor was quicker on the draw, nobody looked at you funny if you were suddenly the ‘drunk’. Nobody stopped him. Sure Rorschach was there, but then there were patrols and heaters. He...

Rorschach could count on one hand the number of times he’d participated in Christmas. [[MORE]] Most of which were either leaving small presents for Daniel’s later discovery, or being forced into a Christmas bash while the Watchmen were still together. When it came to Christmas, he was mostly indifferent. He’d had no real childhood memories of it, so the attachment wasn’t...

drunkenmoth: … I can’t tell if you mean actual spirits or the people’s spirits.  It’s kind of a shame, it’d be nice if everyone was so ‘in it for each other’ all year round.  But hey, that’s why we’re here, right?   Would not be us without them. Humankind eternally struggles in violent filth.  Can only hope for breaks in endless cycle.

drunkenmoth: Sometimes false isn’t so bad, if it benefits someone who needs it more than you right? Sure there are limits and it’s never good in the long run- u-um, but… I see what you mean.  Even the air feels better. Does this usually last past the month? Hurm. Lasts until end of October. Halloween brings out a bitter taste in Manhattan. Spirits give rise to horror and unrest.

drunkenmoth: I wouldn’t say for once, I’ve found some happier people hanging around the bars in some libraries. But it’s definitely a shift, it’s nice. Even the normal couples I see wandering around seem happier.  False happiness, ruled by little lies and masked falsehoods. Good for the city.

drunkenmoth: You’re the boss. [His comment was more of a chirp, pushing just a pleased slur of words as he follows behind like a duckling. He wasn’t tired, but he could pretend to be under the promise of a warm body to huddle against in bed. That promise could stop anything he wanted to do full-stop, up to and including a night-flight.]  [Byron slid his thumb over Rorschach’s knuckles as a...

drunkenmoth: [Hands, where should he put his-] Nothing, I was just wondering. [They ended up settling somewhere above a hip bone, dip of Rorschach’s lower back. Not hard enough to describe as holding, more resting, like he was still a little afraid of how much touching was too much. And people called him flighty.] Would you rather keep standing here or move somewhere else? Like the bed- [God....

Just a tiny crinkle at the corner of his eye and the moth knows what’s happening, his own smile growing that much more.] No promises, but I’ll try to remember.  [He feels like he should say something more but no, way too close and Byron didn’t even realize he was staring until he’s suddenly got the corner of his lip caught on a tooth, chewing. Bad habits...

drunkenmoth: … Oh. Oh.  [And there was an edge to his nervous, startled smile, hands stuck hovering just above Rorschach’s waistline like he wasn’t sure he should- or even could touch. He felt drunk off of something and it was even worse now (probably his pain medication if he was being honest with himself. ‘Take one’ doesn’t mean ‘take three’, Byron.) but he risked it and chased after the...

God he hadn’t even had a drink in the last 24 hours, where was this giddy coming from so late in the evening? Probably his body’s natural...

A kind of different he easily found himself getting more and more comfortable with.] Don’t want to wake up with a start and jar a needle loose or anything.  [Byron has nearly dozed...

Of course it said something,...

Rorschach's Journal. August 9th, 2012.
Extended absence from online activities. Summer in Manhattan proves to make its youth restless. Crime increased the longer summer persisted. School back in session, gives us time to breathe. Furthermore, two groups of vigilantes have returned to city. “Young Avengers” and “Runaways” they call themselves. Young, but strong. With curious powers. Take care of themselves and...

The moth paused,...

It’s amazing to see how much has change- [He’s cut off by a girl drunk too early in the day stumbling into his side, and he helpfully pushes her off back towards her friends.
